Message from the Chairman

Our group, Friends of Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU) was formed in the 1990s to bring members and friends together to foster personal contacts, debate topics and exchange information.

Today, 25 years later the Friends of CDU still is an active network of conservative minded German, British and other nationals working or studying in the United Kingdom.

We are pleased to say, that we have attracted also many younger people to become part of our CDU Group.

Since the early debate about the referendum in the UK and the outcome of this plebiscite in 2016 members have become more concerned about their future in Britain. We hold debates and speaker conferences on the future relationship of Britain, Germany and Europe. More recently we discussed the Party Convention 2018 in Hamburg (Bundesparteitag), the German 2-votes voting system and the election of the new Chairwoman Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer.

We also cooperate with our partners (i.a.) Konrad Adenauer Stiftung London, London Economic Council (Wirtschaftsrat London).

Regardless of whether you are a party member, German, British or simply just interested in German/British/European relations and German politics, our door is always open.
